Keyshia Ka’Oir addressed the load of tragedies surrounding her husband’s record label.
Gucci Mane got a grilling from his wife Keyshia Ka’Oir on her new podcast All Things Keyshia Ka’Oir, about why his 1017 artists keep getting into legal trouble.
When Keyshia asked him why his 1017 artists are always ending up in jail, Gucci seemed taken aback. He replied, “You know, I used to be in and out of jail myself, so I understand where they’re coming from. I see a lot of my old self in them.”
He went on, “I try to support them because I know what it’s like to come from the streets and face those struggles. If I’m not there for them, who will be? They come from tough backgrounds, and I want to give them a chance to succeed. I feel a connection with them and their struggles.”
Over the past few years, several artists associated with 1017, both current and former, have found themselves behind bars. Among them are names like Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano, Hoodrich Paolo Juan, and Mac Critter.
The death of 1017 rapper, Big Scarr, was a controversial component of Gucci Mane’s career where Gucci and his wife,Keyshia Ka’Oir, found themselves in a heated exchange with Big Scarr’s family over payment for his funeral.
The combination of these events lead to criticism from Joe Budden
“That conversation runs concurrent with, for me and the rest of the musicians, the death of the A&R. The death of musicianship. Those are together for me”
Critics in the hip-hop community undoubtedly echoed the sentiments of the ‘Pump it Up‘ rapper. Keyshia Ka’Oir stepped up her podcasting game by directly addressing the significant issue at hand.
